10 basic first aid that you need to know
1 CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) :
- CPR is a life-saving technique used to revive a person who has stopped breathing and whose heart has stopped beating. It involves chest compressions and rescue breaths.
2 Choking :
- Choking can occur when a person’s airway is blocked by food or other objects. The Heimlich maneuver can be used to dislodge the object and restore normal breathing.
3 Bleeding :
- Knowing how to stop bleeding can save a life. Apply pressure to the wound with a clean cloth or bandage until the bleeding stops.
4 Burns :
- Burns can range from minor to severe. First aid for burns involves cooling the burn with water and covering it with a sterile bandage or cloth.
5 Seizures :
- Seizures can be scary, but knowing how to help can make a big difference. Make sure the person is safe and call for medical help if the seizure lasts longer than five minutes.
6 Head injuries :
- Head injuries can be serious, even if they appear minor. Watch for signs of concussion such as dizziness, confusion, and vomiting.
7 Fractures :
Fractures or broken bones can be painful and require immediate medical attention. Splint the injured area and seek medical help.
8 Poisoning :
- If someone has ingested a poisonous substance, call Poison Control immediately. Follow their instructions and monitor the person’s breathing and vital signs.
9 Hypothermia :
- Hypothermia occurs when the body’s temperature drops below normal. Keep the person warm by covering them with blankets and providing warm fluids.
10 Heatstroke :
- Heatstroke is a life-threatening condition that can occur when the body overheats. Move the person to a cooler place, remove excess clothing, and provide cool fluids. Seek medical help immediately.
